The Fluid Dallas Story

“Tonight it appears that two snipers shot ten police officers from elevated positions during the protest/rally,” Dallas Police Chief Brown

Over at AlterNet they are condemning “the media” for falsely suggesting there were multiple snipers firing from elevated positions in Dallas on Thursday night. Their claim is that Micah X. Johnson, an Army CARPENTER, took out 5 Dallas police officers and wounded 7 more in ground level tactical combat. A CARPENTER did that. Well, I guess if a carpenter could walk on water and resurrect himself from the dead, anything is possible.

The mainstream media in the U.S. and abroad badly botched the reporting of the Dallas police shooting that killed five officers Thursday, egged on by speculation by police sources that a team of snipers was bent on avenging the killing of two black men in Minnesota and Louisiana by white cops the day before.

Even after the Dallas Morning News changed its headline Friday afternoon to read, “Dallas sniper was loner, Army vet with stash of arms, bomb parts at home,” the article’s second paragraph said, “Four Dallas police officers and a DART officer were shot and killed in a coordinated sniper attack that followed a Thursday night protest.”

The incorrect sniper meme was repeated internationally, such as this headline from the British Mirror, “Dallas police shooting: ‘Black Power group’ claims responsibility for police killings and warns of more assassinations to come.”..

The team-of-snipers theory, nonetheless, was repeated in media accounts, including with police-attributed information that multiple snipers positioned themselves on elevated ground to triangulate and hit their targets. What had happened instead was Johnson, a military veteran who served in Afghanistan, used armed combat shooting techniques from a position on the ground to shoot cops one by one. AlterNet

What a nifty little Jedi mind trick that is:

“What happened INSTEAD was…”

“These are NOT the droids you are looking for”

“We have ALWAYS been at war with East Asia”

Notice they don’t mention he was a carpenter in the military. I guess he was able to kill all those cops because he used his superior carpenter combat training skills.

So lets review just how us journalists out here “botched” the coverage of this event so badly that WE turned one lone gunman running around on the ground into two sniper teams firing from elevated positions:

“We believe that these suspects were positioning themselves in a way to triangulate on these officers from two different perches in garages in the downtown area, and planned to injure and kill as many law enforcement officers as they could,” Dallas Police Chief Brown

“A sniper just started shooting. All the cops were getting shot, I just saw cops bending over. There had to be like five or six cops all getting shot down.” witness

“Tonight it appears that two snipers shot ten police officers from elevated positions during the protest/rally,” Dallas Police Chief Brown

Right. I can see the mistake we made. See it right there? What we did was report WHAT THE FUCK WE WERE TOLD BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AND ALL THE WITNESSES…

And then, there were none: Now there were “no snipers” involved in the Dallas Sniper Attack

It is a false belief that the CIA ‘infiltrated’ unwitting media institutions. The recruitment of journalists was frequently done with complicity from top management and ownership. Former CIA Director William Colby claimed during the Church Committee investigative hearings, “Lets go to the managements. They were witting.” Among the organizations that would lend their help to the propaganda efforts was the New York Times, Newsweek, Associated Press, and the Miami Herald. Providing cover to CIA agents was a part of the New York Times policy, set by their late publisher, Arthur Hays Salzberger.4 The People’s History

Well, we know now that the newest 3 hobos from Dallas are officially tossed down the memory hole. All those reports of multiple shooters firing from multiple locations creating a “kill zone” in a Dallas street… all gone. Poof. I wonder if they will say he only fired three bullets and the victims all “slumped” forward when they died.

Last night the governor of Texas and the mayor of Dallas held a press conference where they endorsed the “lone gunman” story. Police Chief Brown was notably absent from the event. The governor took three pre-approved questions from the “journalists” in the room and then ran out the door…

One shooter, multiple.  He committed suicide, killed by a robot.  Do we yet know what happened?

How To Sell A War

“Perception Management” was pioneered in the 1980’s under the Reagan administration in order to avoid the public opposition to future wars that was seen during the Vietnam War.

The United States Department of Defense defines perception management as:

Actions to convey and/or deny selected information and indicators to foreign audiences to influence their emotions, motives, and objective reasoning as well as to intelligence systems and leaders at all to influence official estimates, ultimately resulting in foreign behaviors and official actions favorable to the originator’s objectives. In various ways, perception management combines truth projection, operations, security, cover and deception, and psychological operations.

At the onset of the Iraq war in 2003, journalists were embedded with US troops as combat cameramen.  The reason for this was not to show what was happening in the war, but to present the American view of it.  Perception management was used to promote the belief that weapons of mass destruction were being manufactured in Iraq to promote its military intervention, even though the real purpose behind the war was regime change.

Alvin and Heidi Toffler cite the following as tools for perception management in their book, War and Anti-War:

  • accusations of atrocities;
  • hyperbolic inflations;
  • demonization and dehumanization;
  • polarization;
  • claim of divine sanction; and
  • meta-propaganda.

In 2001, the Rendon Group, headed by John Rendon, was secretly granted a $16 million contract to target Iraq with propaganda. Rendon, who had been hired by the CIA to help create conditions to removal Saddam Hussein from power, is a leader in “perception management”.  Two months later, in December 2001, a clandestine operation performed by the CIA and the Pentagon produced false polygraph testimony of an alleged Iraqi civil engineer, who testified that he had helped Saddam Hussein and his men hide tons of biological, chemical and nuclear weapons.  Of course, we now know that there were no weapons of mass destruction hidden in Iraq.

A study by Professor Phil Taylor reveals the differences between the US and global media over the coverage of the war to be:

  • Pro-war coverage in the US made US media “cheerleaders” in the eyes of a watchful, more scrutinous global media;
  • Issues about the war were debated more in countries not directly affected by the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks;
  • The non-US media could not see the link between the “war on terror” and the “axis of evil”; and,
  • The US media became part of the information operations campaign, which weakened their credibility in the eyes of global media.

President Bush himself admitted in a televised interview with Katie Couric on the CBS Evening News that, “One of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror.”…

Don’t Be Fooled By Mainstream Media Journalists, “Independent” Experts And The CIA

presstitute“Under CIA manipulation, direction and, usually, their payroll, were past and present presidents of Mexico, Colombia, Uruguay and Costa Rica, “our minister of labor”, “our vice-president”, “my police”, journalists, labor leaders, student leaders, diplomats, and many others. If the Agency wished to disseminate anti-communist propaganda, cause dissension in leftist ranks, or have Communist embassy personnel expelled, it need only prepare some phony documents, present them to the appropriate government ministers and journalists, and – presto! – instant scandal.” (William Blum, CIA Manipulation: The Painful Truths Told by Phil AgeeAnti-Empire Report 27 June 2013)

Independent media outlets are increasingly challenging the powers that be and, thanks to social media, the truth about what is really happening in our world can be shared at the click of a button.

Sadly, the imperial war machine continues to rear its violent head in exponential proportion under the guise of democracy and “War on Terrorism”.

This war machine is promoted by the mainstream media who cannot be trusted for many reasons. It is a well documented fact that the CIA has used journalism as a cover for its agents and has planted stories in the media.

According to CIA documents, “more than 400 American journalists … in the past twenty‑five years have secretly carried out assignments for the Central Intelligence Agency“, wrote Carl Bernstein in 1977.

In this episode of Alternative views, former CIA agent John Stockwell explains “how CIA ‘disinformation’ tactics manipulate public opinion by planting stories in the press and by financing and supporting right-wing newspapers“.

Planting stories in the media is a standard CIA technique:…

Never Forget The Accounts Of Air Defense Failures On 9/11

…Colonel Robert Marr, who was running the response at NORAD’s North East Air Defense Sector (NEADS), repeated several times in an interview with investigators that he recalled monitoring Flight 93 during the time that it was hijacked.

It was not only Marr who remembers monitoring Flight 93 in the NEADS battle cab. NEADS intelligence officer Lt. Col. Mark Stuart, who was standing right next to Marr during the crisis, reported the same thing. Both of them said that they were tracking Flight 93. And many air traffic controllers made clear in their handwritten notes from that day, and their personal statements afterward, that Flight 93 was known as a hijacking long before it was destroyed.

General Arnold clarified in testimony to the Commission that, “It was our intent to intercept United Flight 93. And in fact my own staff, we were orbiting now over Washington, D.C. by this time, and I was personally anxious to see what 93 was going to do, and our intent was to intercept it. But we decided to stay over Washington, D.C., because there was not that urgency. So we elected to remain over D.C. until that aircraft was definitely coming towards us.”

Unfortunately, the 9/11 Commission Report came out 14 months later and contradicted all of the previous accounts and testimony. The Commission’s Report stated that:

NORAD’s “air defenders had nine minutes’ notice on the first hijacked plane, no advance notice on the second, no advance notice on the third, and no advance notice on the fourth.”

That is, the Commission claimed that the military was never notified at all about three of the four hijacked planes until after they had crashed.

In order to explain away the considerable evidence for knowledge about the hijacked planes, the Commission made the ludicrous claim that all the Air Force officers had been either mistaken or lying in previous testimonies. Why any of those the officers would spend years lying, in ways that made the Air Force look incompetent, was never revealed…

The conflicting fact sets necessarily mean that SOMEBODY lied.  Two questions consequently arise: Who?  Why? A third question is, “Where is our “free press?”
