Prosecutors Need More Time To Indict In Boston Bombing

On Friday, prosecutors said that the 19-year-old alleged suspect would not be indicted within the 30-day period prescribed under the US Federal Speedy Trial Act.

Sunday will be the 30th day since Tsarnaev was captured following the April 15 Boston bomb attacks.

Dzhokhar and his older brother Tamerlan are accused of carrying out the bombings near the finish line of the Boston Marathon that killed three people and injured more than 260 others.

Tamerlan, 26, was killed allegedly in a shootout with police in Watertown, Massachusetts, on April 19. His brother was wounded and arrested in another shootout later that day.

Tsarnaev is in a prison hospital due to the severe injuries sustained in the gun fire.

Also on Friday, US Magistrate Judge Marianne Bowler rejected requests by Tsarnaev’s lawyers to allow them to take periodic photos of him while he recovers from injuries to document “his evolving mental and physical state,” and to provide evidence whether he voluntarily made statements to authorities after his arrest…
